With the leadership of Angela Coon, Executive producer, the production is directed by the Drama Team of Dee Gleason, Yasmin and Josh Walton and Terence Savagel and Ally Deihl. This original musical drama was created by Calvary’s Creative Team and offers audiences a unique perspective on the Christmas story by telling it through the eyes of Jesus’ earthly family.
Set entirely in Biblical times, the story begins with Mary’s betrothal to Joseph the carpenter, and offers a rare look at the young couple, their families, their community and the world in which they lived. Mary is visited by the angel Gabriel and told she will miraculously be the mother of Jesus – but what will her family, her husband-to-be and their community believe? Will she be accepted – or rejected and stoned?
As Mary and Joseph answer these questions, accept their calling and embark on their journey of faith and trust, the production promises intriguing glimpses into the backstory of the Magi and of King Herod and his motivations. As Mary and Joseph put their trust in God they saw the fruition of their hope fulfilled. As the words to one of the songs say, “You don’t want to miss this.”
